Launch of the Flagship Publication "The State of Food and Agriculture 2024"

This event presents FAO’s flagship report on “The State of Food and Agriculture 2024”. This year the topic is "Value-Driven Transformation of Agrifood Systems”, it refines the global estimates on the hidden costs of agrifood systems from the 2023 edition, offering a detailed breakdown of the health hidden health costs across 156 countries. Additionally, it advances the discussion by introducing targeted true cost accounting (TCA) assessments through case studies.
These targeted TCA assessments facilitate stakeholder consultations and the identification of policy levers necessary to address the drivers of hidden costs. As such, they are a fundamental precondition for successful, large-scale transformation of agrifood systems.
