Leveraging the Global Sustainable Aquaculture Advancement Partnership (GSAAP) for implementing the Guidelines for Sustainable Aquaculture

The recently endorsed Guidelines for Sustainable Aquaculture (GSA) provide a globally relevant framework for guiding aquaculture development that is environmentally sound, socially responsible, and economically viable. However, translating the Guidelines into action across diverse regional and national contexts remains a significant challenge. Recognizing the importance of partnerships from various stakeholders, the FAO Sub-Committee on Aquaculture, at its 12th Session, noted the Global Sustainable Aquaculture Advancement Partnership (GSAAP) as a mechanism to exchange experiences and facilitate innovation, and suggested the GSAAP could help implement the GSA.
