World Pulses Day, 10 February 2023 - “Pulses for a Sustainable Future"

Virtual Meeting
10.02.2023
 Rome time

The International Year of Pulses (IYP) in 2016 helped to raise awareness on the importance of pulses. In order to continue heightening public awareness on the benefits of pulses, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), at its 73rd session in December 2018, endorsed the proposal made by Burkina Faso regarding the annual observance of the World Pulses Day on 10 February (A/RES/73/251). The UNGA invited the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to facilitate the observance of the World Pulses Day. The World Pulses Day celebration aims to raise awareness on the importance of pulses and highlight their critical role in addressing the challenges of poverty, food security, human nutrition, soil health and environment, to achieve the SDGs.
