The Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL) is launching a series of webinars, developed jointly with its broader network of partners, to kick off its work in support to the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) and the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF) in 2026. These observances provide an important platform to recognize the contributions of pastoralists, rangeland communities, and women farmers to sustainable food systems and rural development.
As part of its commitment to supporting the objectives of the International Years, GASL has worked closely with a diverse task force composed of numerous GASL partners to identify key priority themes, ensure diversity across all sessions, and reflect global perspectives and on-the-ground realities. Find out more about the work of the task force.
Pastoralist communities and women farmers continue to face many structural barriers in accessing resources and services, due to discriminatory social norms, which limit their inclusion in policymaking, investment, and development outcomes, despite their central role in agrifood systems, rangeland stewardship, and climate resilience building.
This webinar will examine what the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) truly mean for pastoralist communities and women farmers in 2026, at a moment when global development pathways are being reshaped by climate shocks, shifting trade dynamics, and reductions in development and climate finance.
By amplifying voices from the field and connecting them with policymakers, investors, and development actors, the event seeks to inform ongoing efforts to strengthen equity, resilience and sustainability in pastoral and rangeland systems.
