This initiative aims to accelerate the pace of electrification in sub-Saharan Africa by catalyzing infrastructure investment, driving comprehensive policy reforms, and mobilizing private investment. It focuses on 1) Expanding the electricity grid and increasing connections in underserved areas; 2) Deploying mini-grids and standalone solar solutions to bring power to remote, off-grid communities. By early 2025, twelve countries have developed National Energy Compacts, which set targets to scale up electricity access, increase the use of renewable energy, and additional private capital.
