One of the strategy's key elements is based on promoting "sustainable production through the gradual establishment of wood energy plantations, agroforestry, and silvopastoral systems" that ensure a sufficient supply of firewood and charcoal to meet national demand (residential sector, small, medium, and large-scale industry, and surpluses for export). The other essential element of the strategy is promoting the rational and efficient use of firewood and charcoal, with the aim of optimizing and reducing demand by end-users in the residential and industrial sectors, contributing to the sustainability of wood energy resources.
