WAW Steering Committee
20/12/2017
The WAW initiative was established in 2011 by FAO with the support of the French government and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Since then, it has been developing concepts and trying and testing methodology and operational products. In 2016 and 2017, pilot projects were conducted in six countries as part of an FAO-sponsored inter-regional technical cooperation programme (TCP) and a global project funded by IFAD.
A meeting of the WAW Steering Committee was held in December 2017 at IFAD headquarters. The receipt of additional support from France and the arrival of a new programme coordinator coincided with an international workshop that brought together representatives of the pilot countries, so this was an opportune moment to convene a meeting of the Steering Committee to: (1) analyse achievements to date, (2) get an overview of the current situation, (3) interact directly with national representatives and (4) identify the way forward.
