ACCESS REPORT

Bananas are the most exported and consumed fresh fruit globally, but their production heavily relies on plastics, posing environmental challenges. From bunch bags to foam separators, many plastic materials used in the banana supply chain are single-use and, if not adequately managed, can contribute to pollution, biodiversity loss, and greenhouse gas emissions.

This webinar will explore innovative approaches to addressing plastic use in the banana sector, highlighting industry efforts to refuse, redesign, reduce, reuse, recycle, recover, and remediate plastics.

It will provide an opportunity to:

• Present alternatives to conventional plastic materials, such as biodegradable plastics and paper-based solutions
• Discuss challenges and opportunities in adopting sustainable plastic management practices
• Share success stories and case studies of initiatives that have effectively reduced plastic waste
• Promote co-responsibility among stakeholders across the plastic lifecycle in the banana industry.
