Nasonggo (Fiji), Lawaki (Fiji), 16/10/2025 - 30/05/2026
World Food Day is celebrated globally on 16 October to raise awareness about hunger, food security, and sustainable agriculture. By launching the House Garden Competition on this day, we align our efforts with a global movement that emphasizes the importance of healthy diets, environmental stewardship, and community-driven food systems. This competition aims to engage students, teachers, parents, and ex-scholars in a collaborative effort to transform school land into vibrant, productive gardens. Each House will be allocated a 1-acre plot and challenged to design, develop, and maintain their own garden using principles aligned with the FAO’s Four Betters: Better Production, Better Nutrition, Better Environment, and Better Life.
This symbolic launch reinforces our commitment to cultivating a culture of sustainability and nutrition in schools across Fiji. - 17 October 2025: Official launch of the competition on World Food Day. - November–December 2025: Garden planning and initial planting. - January–April 2026: Maintenance, training, and community events - May 2026: Final judging and awards ceremony.
