Awareness and Kitchen Garden Demonstration Program

'Awareness and Kitchen Garden Demonstration Program' on the occasion of the World Food Day 2025, "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”. The school awareness programme will feature demonstrations in kitchen gardening and traditional crop cultivation and local food, aiming to educate students about sustainable agriculture, the nutritional benefits of local foods, and the value of preserving indigenous farming knowledge. Embracing the World Food Day 2025 theme – “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” the initiative encourages active involvement from women Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and schools, thereby fostering community ownership, intergenerational learning, appreciation for traditional knowledge and the strengthening of local food systems. This event is organised by National Institute of Technology Manipur as part of a Project implemented by National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS), G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment (NHE) and the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC). The Project PI is Dr Azhoni Krishna and Co-PI Dr Chubbamenla Jamir, Native Foodscape Foundation and Dr Mala Narang. Date: 16th October, 2025 Venue: Mao-Maram High School. Time: 11:30 a.m.
