FAO celebrates decades of partnership and agricultural innovation in the Republic of Moldova

(Moldova), 20/06/2025

As FAO celebrates its 80th anniversary and commemorates over 30 years of continuous engagement in the Republic of Moldova, the Organization is proudly launching a pioneering partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. This long-standing collaboration focuses on bolstering agricultural extension and advisory services by empowering local Chambers of Agriculture to provide critical training and guidance. By uniting agricultural associations, experts, and farmers in a shared framework, FAO is enhancing the dissemination of tailored, regionally relevant knowledge to smallholder producers across the country.

A key feature of this strengthened partnership is the expansion of Farmer Field Schools (FFS), a proven model for hands-on, peer‑led learning. FAO is coordinating the establishment of additional FFS in strategic areas, allowing farmers to learn sustainable practices directly in the field through demonstration plots, peer exchange, and extension support. This initiative builds on the FFS network already operating nationwide and introduces modern techniques—such as no‑till sowing and improved livestock management—to foster resilience against climate change and economic challenges. By championing these practical learning platforms, FAO underscores its commitment to fostering innovation, rural capacity development, and durable food systems in Moldova.
