Siena (Italy), 15/06/2022 - 18/06/2022
Siena is “together for the SDGs”
Italy’s “Together for the SDGS” (#InsiemepergliSDG) campaign aims to engage the public in the SDGs and to encourage action for World Food Day. This multi-partner initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, FAO, Save the Children and CIHEAM Bari will be calling for action at events in Siena, Rimini, Catania, Brescia and Bergamo from June to October 2022.
The first of this year’s events from 15-18 June opens at the historic University of Siena with a discussion on the key role of youth in building more sustainable food systems. Special guests FAO Director General QU Dongyu and Professor Jeffrey Sachs will be joined by Foreign Affairs Vice Minister Marina Sereni and University Rector Francesco Fratti for the launch of the Urban Actions web app.
Siena is a model city when it comes to sustainability. The city demonstrates a measured approach to protecting the local environment while stimulating economic growth through good urban planning, land usage, and rural and urban development. Green areas within the centre together with those on the outskirts of Siena create a healthier, less polluted environment for all.
