SENEGAL:

Following widespread rains in mid and late June, plantings have started in all agricultural zones. The first rains reached the south-east in early and mid-May. They progressed in the south-west and the centre in early June and covered the entire country during the second dekad of June. Rains remained widespread during the third dekad except in the north-west. They also decreased in the north in early July but remained abundant in the extreme south-west and south-east. Coarse grains are emerging or tillering in the south. Plantings are underway in the north but recent dry weather may necessitate replantings if rains do not resume.

The pest situation remains mostly calm.
