CHAD:

Reflecting generally widespread and regular rains, crops are developing satisfactorily. Rains started in April in the south. They decreased in mid May but became abundant in late May Rains progressed northwards in June and became abundant in the south during the last dekad of the month. They were also improving in the centre in early July where they will benefit planting. Coarse grains are developping satisfactorily in the south. Pastures are regenerating and water reserves are being replenished, allowing a northwards migration of herds. Water levels are higher than last year on the Chari river and the Lake Chad basin.

Desert Locust adult groups and perhaps a few small swarms are expected to appear in the Tibesti area from the west and north. Some of these may persist while others could move further east in the Borkou and Ennedi regions and lay if rainfall occurs.
