CHAD:

Widespread and above normal rains are benefiting crop development since late June. Precipitation increased significantly in the Sahelian zone during the second dekad and again during the third dekad. Crops are developing satisfactorily. Millet and sorghum crops are emerging in the Sahelian zone they are growing satisfactorily in the Sudanian zone. Soil moisture reserves are abundant. Satellite imagery indicates that precipitation remained abundant during the first dekad of August over the producing zones.

Pastures are abundant countrywide. Infestations of grasshoppers and grain-eating birds are reported in Batha area. No Desert Locust activity has been reported.
