FAO/GIEWS: Africa Report No.3 - December 2003 p.40
A recent FAO/CILSS Crop Assessment Mission provisionally estimated cereal production in 2003 at some 195 000 tonnes (including re-exports), some 68 percent above last year’s poor harvest and 21 percent above average. Following this good harvest, cereal imports requirements are forecast to decline to some 305 000 tonnes, mainly wheat.
