INTRODUCTION

Hot pepper (Capsicum spp.) has been a traditional crop grown and consumed in the Bahamas and other countries in the Caribbean as well as other regions of the world. It has now become one of the main export crops and provides an important income for small farmers. The crop has provided economic returns even for farmers with plots of only a thousand plants.

However, the production of hot peppers is not easy when a high quality product is required for export markets such as Europe or North America. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Bahamas has recognised the need to provide clear, concise and relevant advice to farmers who intend to produce hot peppers.
