LEGISLATION
-No foreign fishing for spiny lobsters except in cases in joint ventures.
-Vessel must bear identification marks.
-Licence must be kept on board vessel.
-Area of operation specified.
-Limitations on type and quantity of fishing gear.
-Jamaicans must be employed/trained as crew.
-Foreign fishing interests are encourage to enter into joint venture arrangements with local interests.
-Catch must be landed locally before being exported.
-Proceeds from catch must be returned to Jamaica and then may be repatriated.

LEGISLATION
-Advance notice of arrival and departure times must be given to Fisheries Department.
-Observers allowed on board.
-Logbook to be maintained by captain and submitted to Fisheries Department at end of each fishing voyage.
-Timely reporting on position.

% = Reports must be made every 3 days for vessels from Norway, Sweden and Faroes when fishing for herring, weekly when fishing for other species .
O = Logbook to be filled out(radio report to be made) after every fishing operation .
* = Country is a part to the South Pacific FFA arrangement which stipulates that licences will not be issued to foreign fishing vessels unless those vessels are listed in good standing on the FFA - maintained regional register of fishing vessels .
