FAO Specification 435/TC/ts/-(1997)

1. DESCRIPTION

The material shall consist of flusilazole together with related manufacturing impurities. It shall be a tan to light brown crystalline solid at 25°C, free from visible extraneous matter or added modifying agents.

2. ACTIVE INGREDIENT

2.1 Identity Test (435/m/-)

The analytical method is available from the Pesticide Information Officer, FAO Plant Production and Protection Division.

Where the identity of the active ingredient is in doubt, it should be confirmed by comparison of the GC retention time using the analytical method available from FAO.

Where the identity of the material remains in doubt, it may be confirmed by comparison with the infrared spectra.

2.2. Flusilazole (435/m/-)

The flusilazole content shall be declared in g/kg (950 g/kg minimum) and, when determined, the content shall not differ from that declared by more than ± 25 g/kg.

3. IMPURITIES

3.1 Material Insoluble in acetone (MT 27)

Maximum: 1 g/kg.

Flusilazole water dispersible granules

FAO Specification 435/WG/ts/-(1997)

1. DESCRIPTION

The material shall consist of a homogeneous mixture of technical flusilazole (complying with 435/TC/ts/-) together with necessary formulants, in the form of granules to be applied after disintegration and dispersion in water. The product shall be dry, free-flowing and free from visible extraneous matter, hard lumps and significant quantities of dust.

2. ACTIVE INGREDIENT

2.1 Identity Test (435/m/-)

The analytical method is available from the Pesticide Information Officer, FAO Plant Production and Protection Division.

Where the identity of the active ingredient is in doubt, it should be confirmed by comparison of the GC retention time using the analytical method available from FAO.

Where the identity of the material remains in doubt, it may be confirmed by comparison with the infrared spectra.

2.2. Flusilazole (435/m/-)

The flusilazole content shall be declared in g/kg and, when determined, the content shall not differ from that declared by more than the following amounts:

3. IMPURITIES

3.1 Maximum: 1 g/kg insoluble in acetone found under 2.2 Flusilazole Technical.

4. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

4.1 pH range (CIPAC MT 75.2)

pH range: 6 to 11.

4.2 Wetting of the product (CIPAC MT 53.3)

Will be completely wetted in 10 seconds without swirling.

4.3 Wet sieve test (CIPAC MT 167)

Maximum: 2% retained on a 75 micron test sieve.

4.4 Suspensibility (CIPAC MT 168, gravimetric method)

A minimum of 70% of the formulation shall be in suspension after 30 minutes in CIPAC Standard Water D (Note 1).

NOTE 1. Chemical assay is the only fully reliable method to measure the mass of active ingredient still in suspension. However, simpler methods such as gravimetric and solvent extraction determination may be used on a routine basis provided that these methods have been shown to give equal results to those of the chemical assay method. In case of dispute, the chemical method shall be the "referee method."

4.5 Degree of dispersion (CIPAC MT 174)

A minimum of 70% of the formulation will be dispersed in CIPAC standard water D after 60 seconds stirring.

4.6 Persistent foam (CIPAC 47)

Maximum: 25 ml after 1 minute.

4.7 Dustiness (CIPAC MT 171, gravimetric method)

Maximum: 12 mg collected dust.

4.8 Flowability (CIPAC MT 172)

100% of the product shall pass through a 5 mm test sieve after 20 drops of the sieve.

5. STORAGE STABILITY

5.1 Stability at 54°C (CIPAC MT 46.1.1)

After storage at 54 ± 2°C for 14 days, the determined average active ingredient content must not be lower than 97% relative to the determined average content found before storage, and the product shall continue to comply with 2.2 and 4.1 to 4.5.

Flusilazole emulsifiable concentrates

FAO Specification 435/EC/ts/-(1997)

1. DESCRIPTION

The material shall consist of a solution of technical flusilazole (complying with 435/TC/ts/-) in suitable solvents and with other necessary added formulants. It shall be in the form of a stable liquid, free from visible suspended matter and sediment.

2. ACTIVE INGREDIENT

2.1 Identity Test (435/m/-)

The analytical method is available from the Pesticide Information Officer, FAO Plant Production and Protection Division.

Where the identity of the active ingredient is in doubt, it should be confirmed by comparison of the GC retention time using the analytical method available from FAO.

Where the identity of the material remains in doubt, it may be confirmed by comparison with the infrared spectra.

The flusilazole content shall be declared (g/kg or g/l at 20°C, Note 1) and, when determined, the content shall not differ from that declared by more than the following amounts:

4.3 Flashpoint (MT 12)

The flashpoint shall be declared and not be lower than 25°C. A closed cup method shall be used.

5. STORAGE STABILITY

5.1 Stability at 0°C (MT 39.1)

After storage at 0 ± 1°C for 7 days, the volume of solid and/or liquid which separates shall be not more than 0.3 ml.

5.2 Stability at 54°C (MT 46.1.1)

After storage at 54 ± 2°C for 14 days, the determined average active ingredient content must not be lower than 97% relative to the determined average content found before storage, and the product shall continue to comply with 2.2, 4.1 and 4.2.

NOTES

1. If the buyer requires both g/kg and g/l at 20°C, then in case of dispute, the analytical result shall be calculated as g/kg.

2. Unless another temperature is specified.

3. These tests need only be carried out in case of doubt as to the emulsion stability result of the 2 h test.

Flusilazole emulsion in water

FAO Specification 435/EW/ts/-(1997)

1. DESCRIPTION

The material shall consist of a solution of technical flusilazole (complying with FAO specification requirements) in suitable solvents emulsified in water and with other necessary added formulants. It shall be in the form of a stable liquid, free from visible suspended matter and sediment.

2. ACTIVE INGREDIENT

2.1 Identity Test (435/m/-)

The analytical method is available from the Pesticide Information Officer, FAO Plant Production and Protection Division.

Where the identity of the active ingredient is in doubt, it should be confirmed by comparison of the GC retention time using the analytical method available from FAO.

5. STORAGE STABILITY

5.1 Stability at 0°C (MT 39.1)

After storage at 0 ± 1°C for 7 days, the volume of solid and/or liquid which separates shall be not more than 0.3 ml.

5.2 Stability at 54°C (MT 46.1.3)

After storage at 54 ± 2°C for 14 days, the determined average active ingredient content must not be lower than 97% relative to the determined average content found before storage, and the product shall continue to comply with 4.1, 4.3 and 4.4.

1. If the buyer requires both g/kg and g/l at 20°C, then in case of dispute, the analytical result shall be calculated as g/kg.
