CHAIRMAN: I now call the 8th meeting of Commission II to order. Before starting and going into agenda item 11, I have a few announcements.

The first announcement concerns information received from the delegation of Czechoslovakia that a written statement on the Soil Charter would be handed over, and I suggest, with the approval of the Commission, that we include this written statement of the delegation of Czechoslovakia in the verbatim on the subject of the Soil Charter. Is this acceptable to Czechoslovakia? Thank you.

I also wanted to remind you that when we received from the Resolutions Committee the Resolution moved by Hungary on the World Food Day, we will bring it into the debate so as to allow approval by the Commission as quickly as possible and further processing by the Resolutions Committee, I think.

I have been asked by the Secretariat to draw the attention of delegates to the fact that for the Programme Committee, eleven places will have to be filled; so far five nominations have been received. For the Finance Committee nine places are to be filled and four nominations have been received, Nominations should be submitted by 12.00 hours today, Monday, 16 November. I repeat, nominations for the Programme and Finance Committees will have to be submitted in order to be valid by 12 o’clock on Monday, 16 November, that is today.

With regard to the Council, nominations for the period 1981-84, sixteen places, have to be filled. So far six nominations have been received, and for the overlapping period, January l?83 to November 1985, 16 places will have to be filled; five nominations have so far been received, Nominations for the Council are to be submitted by 18.00 hours on Tuesday, 17 November. I repeat, nominations to be submitted by 18.00 hours tomorrow, that is Tuesday, 17 November.
