REDDCopernicus - GFOI R&D WORKSHOP: Assessing Research Priorities for Forest Monitoring in Support of REDD+ MRV and other initiatives
Researchers and technical experts in tropical forest monitoring are invited to join the upcoming GFOI R&D Component workshop on 14-15 June organized by the University of Wageningen for the REDDCopernicus project.
Participation is open to anyone with an interest in shaping the research priorities for tropical forest monitoring going forward. Country representatives, academics, research partners, NGOs, Service Providers and space agency representatives are all encouraged to attend.
The aim of the two-day workshop is to review current R&D objectives of the forest monitoring community and assess their ongoing relevance. Ultimately the workshop seeks to identify remaining gaps and promote promising concepts to help ensure research continues to move towards operational uptake in countries.

Agenda
The event will feature plenary and breakout sessions where selected speakers will outline research progress, remaining challenges, and propose new research.
Breakout sessions will be dedicated to the following topics:
• Degradation & Regrowth
• Biomass
• Early Warning
• Uncertainty Analysis
• Land Use & GHGs.
An additional breakout session will focus on methods to identify and assess new research in the context of GFOI’s R&D Coordination Component.
