Coastal blue carbon ecosystems like mangroves are key to climate action. In this video, Anna Tosiani, Analyst of Forest Resources Information at the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, explains the importance of mangroves in her country and how they are being monitored and restored. In the context of the Global Forest Resources Assessment, the FAO and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia organized a capacity-building workshop for data collection in Indonesia in 2022, with a focus on mangroves. The data collected will form part of a Mangroves assessment. She was one of the 300 in-person participants that joined the Plenary of the Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI). GFOI 2023 Plenary took place from 9 to 11 May 2023 at the Headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome and online.
