The main venue for the Seminar was Kiev city in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic where the laboratories of the Ukrainian Fisheries Research Institute offered facilities for most of the lectures. The laboratories and experimental ponds of UkrNIIRKh were also visited.
Demonstrations of fish breeding and other observations, practical work and farm operations were performed at the Don rib Combinat, a fish farm at Slaviansk, Donetsk Region, Ukraine. Fish culture in thermal waters from a hydro-electric reservoir was observed at Miranovka station near Slaviansk. Here a hatchery set up for carp and the induced spawning of newly introduced phytophagous species were demonstrated.
In Moscow, where the opening and closing ceremonies were held, a number of places of interest including the Office of the VNIRO were visited.
A brief but profitable visit was also made to Leningrad. Here the Ropsha experimental fish ponds and laboratories of the Scientific Research Institute of Lake and River Fisheries (GosNIORKh) were visited and their facilities observed, besides the Zoological Institute and other places of interest in the city.
