(Appendix I) Aside from briefing talks of station personnel, 30 lectures on selection and hybridization were contributed to the Seminar. The texts of these lectures will be issued at a later date in the Rep.FAO/UNDP(TA) Series. The subjects of these lectures were designed to provide a well-balanced treatment of the Seminar's theme agreed on during preparatory consultation between the U.S.S.R. and FAO officials. The lectures covered: (i) fundamentals of genetics and biostatistics, (ii) fish genetics (iii) reviews of progress in genetic selection and hybridization of fish in various regions of the world, and (iv) genetic selection and hybridization of fish in the U.S.S.R.
Near the end of the Seminar/Study Tour the participants described the status and programmes of fish breeding in their countries. These presentations proved very interesting and drew considerable attention from the attending U.S.S.R. scientists as well as from the participants.
