I - INTRODUCTION

The meetings of MEDRAP II, Regional Coordinator with the Sub-regional and National Coordinators and with the participation of FAO, took place at the Regional Coordination Centre, in Tunis, six weeks before the first Project Steering Committee Meeting, scheduled for the 26th of April 1991.

The main objectives of the meetings were:

  1. to define an operative work plan proposal for 1991–1992, to be submitted for approval by the Steering Committee;

  2. to up-date the priorities of the participating countries, since a considerable delay has elapsed between the Project Document first drafting and its signature;

  3. to reexamine the Project Document and propose amendments, when necessary, to be endorsed by the Steering Committee.

The meetings were held in accordance with the following agenda:

The participants were asked to present a summary about the status of aquaculture development in their respective countries as well as project proposals of regional or sub-regional interest. They were also asked to fill in a sequence of questionnaires for the assessment of aquaculture capabilities and needs in their respective countries, covering the fields of training, research, extension and production.

All the data collected during the meetings are attached in annexes to this document.
