TERMS OF REFERENCE

1. Team Leader

-   Conducts studies on:

• Zonation of aquaculture
• Production system evaluation
• Institutional set up and needs

• Potential and constraints

-   Prepares a draft Terminal Statement for finalization at FAO Headquarters

2. Economist

-   Assists in:

• Economic and financial evaluation of existing production models
• Review of organization and management of the production sector and distribution of fish and inputs for production

• Evaluation of the institutional set up in support of production.

-   Contributes to the final mission report

3. Feed Specialist

-   Evaluates:

• Trout culture
• Artificial rearing of sturgeon
• Carps in polyculture systems

• Marine and fresh water shrimp culture

-   Contributes to the final mission report

4. Geneticist

-   Evaluates the status and potential for domestication, strain utilization and breeding practices of selected species, as they pertain to aquaculture development in the IRI:

• Barbus spp., as a candidate for domestication
• Development of mono-sex sturgeon (all female)

• Chinese carps and the potential for addition of new species

-   Makes a preliminary evaluation of hatchery techniques and environmental conditions, in association with the team leader, to determine if genetic or environmental investigations will be required to increase the productivity of some species

-   Contributes to the final mission report
