Development of Regional And National Work Plans for FRA 2005 Implementation
Introduction
There will be five working groups, the assignment of participants to groups is according to membership of their countries to FAO Forestry Regional Commissions (Africa, Asia-Pacific, European, Latin American and Caribbean and North America Forestry Region).
Organization of working groups
The group work will be organized as round table discussions. Each working group should elect a chair person. The FRA secretariat and concerning regional officers will jointly work as secretary to a working group. Each working group will develop the national and region work plan for providing information to FRA 2005. The group reports are scheduled for presentation in the morning session on Friday, November 22nd, 2003.
Working Groups Tasks
1. Based on the deliberation and past group works, the participants shall discuss how the process to generate information to FRA2005 including detail time plan for submission of country reports.
2. The group shall discuss how regional offices can coordinate and facilitate the process of country reporting including regional workshop etc.
3. The group shall discuss what resource, capacities and mechanism are needed by each country to provide data to FRA 2005 during the year 2004.
4. The group members shall examine needs, if any, to modify or expand the current contents of their National Forest Assessments in relation to long term needs of FRA and forest related international processes.
Expected Outputs
A. List of main activities and national work plans of action (including capacity building) needed for providing country information to FRA 2005 during 2004
B. List of activities and a regional work plan of action for providing country information to FRA 2005
C. Role of regional offices in coordination and facilitation of submission of country information to FRA 2005 including organization of regional workshops.
