Mechanisms to promote the advancement of women
National Machinery. There is no national machinery for women.
WID Units or Focal Points in Technical Ministries. There are no WID units or focal points in technical ministries, although a number of ministries have programmes targeted to women.
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). There is little information on NGOs in general, and no research has been carried out on the human, material and financial resources of the NGOs working with rural women. Most NGOs comprise both men and women, but over the past decade the number of women's NGOs has increased. The National Union of Moroccan Women (UNFM) seems to be the most well-organized of these with a network of 50 regional groups and 120 local groups. Its main focus is poverty and among its activities is the formation of about 15 agricultural or livestock cooperatives.
