Selected programmes in support of women in agriculture, forestry and fisheries
Policy Planning and Research
· The Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform is carrying out studies to analyze the situation of rural women, identify their problems and needs, particularly in relation to agricultural production. It is also developing a strategy to set up bodies, train staff and conduct training for women.
Access to Agricultural Resources and Services
· The National Bank for Agricultural Credit (CNCA) carried out a pilot study to identify the institutional and socio-economic constraints that women face in accessing credit, and developed a simple, appropriate framework, in which women's financial needs could be addressed.
· Most development projects are beginning to include women's components.
· A number of activities of the various ministries focus on literacy, income generation, social services and other activities for rural women.
