The members of the External Review Panel express their appreciation to the Board, management and staff of ICRAF for their full and open cooperation during the review. Arrangements at headquarters and for the country visits were excellent.
We must particularily thank Dr. Pedro Sanchez, the Director General, Mr. Bruce Scott, Deputy Director General, Dr. Peter Cooper, Director of Research, Dr. Esther Zulberti, Director of Training and Information, and Mr. Michael Klass, Director of Finance and Administration. With a review based so much on a Centre's future plans, it was inevitable that the burden of the interaction fell on the senior management of ICRAF. They responded admirably, and they continually and willingly made themselves available for discussion with Panel members throughout the review. We would also thank the ICRAF outreach scientists we visited for showing us their programmes with enthusiasm.
We thank Dr. David Brett for liaising with the Panel cheerfully and patiently throughout. Neena Sood was an invaluable help with both travel and other essential logistics such as lunches.
The Panel is very grateful to Irmi Braun-Castaldi from the TAC Secretariat for her untiring work in organizing and typing the report and for maintaining the pressure for completion on time. She was ably supported by Marion Kanyugo and Mary Gichuhi.
