CHAD:

The start of the rainy season was somewhat erratic. Following the first rains in mid March in the extreme south and in mid April in the south-west, precipitation progressed northwards in the Sahelian zone in June. Rainfall was generally below average in May, but improved in early June before decreasing again during the last two dekads of June. Land preparation and sowing of coarse grains are in progress in the Sahelian zone, while in the Sudanian zone crops are emerging but may suffer water stress if rains do not improve in July.

Pastures have started to regenerate in the south. Rodents are reported to be attacking recent sowings in Lac department.
