A. A.H. Boerma activity

358. The Conference noted the decision of the Council at its Seventy-First Session that the A.H. Boerma Award should consist of one biennial $10 000 prize for one or more writers whose work was likely to have increased international public awareness of the world food problem and of measures leading to its solution. The recipient or recipients would be selected by the Director-General, bearing in mind the relevant recommendations made by the Council, and the presentation would take place during Conference sessions.

B. International food corps

359. There was general recognition of the need for a long-term programme of international cooperation designed to promote food production and eradicate rural poverty and hunger. Taking into account the suggestion made in the McDougall Memorial Lecture before the Nineteenth Session of the Conference that an International Food Corps should be established, it was requested that the Director-General study, in consultation with interested organizations, the possibilities and implications of establishing an International Food Corps and submit his assessment with recommendations to the FAO Council at its 1978 session.

C. Date and Place of the Twentieth Conference Session

360. The Conference decided that its Twentieth Session should be held in Rome from 10-29 November 1979.
