The Aquainnovation project (http://www.aquainnovation.net/) is an EC research and demonstration project aimed at enhancing innovation processes in European aquaculture, particularly for small and medium sized companies in the New Member states. Key elements that might be of interest to this forum are: Knowledgebase - http://www.aquainnovation.net/aquainnovation/knowledgebase/default_en.a…] This was an attempt to build a database of aquaculture articles that anyone can contribute to. The articles can be arranged into sections and linked by the editors to provide both a free search interface, and a structured, thematic interface (table of contents). Whilst it does not allow free editing in the style of a wiki, other users can post comments on each article. Another feature of the service that may be of interest, given Dr Ravisankar comments about delivery through mobile phones, is that the knowledgebase has a mobile phone friendly interface (http://www.aquainnovation.net/aquainnovation/mobile/). It can therefore be accessed by anyone with an Internet connected mobile phone who reads English and can afford the sky-high data charges most operators charge…. OK, but might need more than the fingers on one hand to count them in future… Learning - http://www.aquainnovation.net/aquainnovation/learning/default_en.asp[/u…] This includes a couple of Flash-based multi-media presentations on the use of vaccines in aquaculture, and recirculation systems. They are intended for private study, with self-test quizzes at the end and spreadsheet tools to help apply the lessons to your own situation. Databases of commercial links are also provided Benchmarking - http://www.aquainnovation.net/aquainnovation/benchmarking/default_en.as…] OK, not real benchmarking, but simple quizzes to try to stimulate thinking about innovation-related issues - asking questions about current practice or performance, providing a comparative feedback score and suggestions for taking things further Partnering - http://www.aquainnovation.net/aquainnovation/partnering/default_en.asp[… matchmaking database to help companies and organisations find potential partners for business, trade, consultancy or research projects etc. I'm sure the consortium would be interested in any feedback on these services or any expressions of interest in future collaborative partnerships to take these approaches forward. Hello all My name is Polly Gaster, and I am not a fishing expert at all. I work at the Eduardo Mondlane University Informatics Centre in Maputo, Mozambique, coordinating the implementation of ICT for development projects - mostly related to telecentres, community multimedia centres (CMC), content development, etc. One of our local partners, which is running a CMC, is the Artisan Fishermen's Association of Angoche, in northern Mozambique, and there are others also on the coast which serve fishermen. So my main interest is to use this Forum to learn things that may be helpful to our partners. At least I can congratulate you right away on having some information and material on this website available in Portuguese! Polly
