I have designed a participatory framework that guides policy makers, planners, development workers and rural communities appropriate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in particular and ICT in general for their developmental needs. This is one of the few frameworks that use a bottom up approaches to both programme and information systems implementation. The differetiator is that the system accomodates rural poor and other disadvantaged communities in specifying their developmental and information systems needs. The framework has been piloted in a Goat and Indigenous chicken projects. I am registering for a PhD to on this framework. I have presented aspects of this work to the Matebeland Food Security Symposiam and the Southern African Computer Lectures Association Annual workshop.
