My name is Dennis Okore,i am am communications specialists with over 7 years experience in community coommunications with INGOs and now in commercial enterprises where i am a focal point for community and stakeholder engagement remit. One of my focal career objectives has been partnering with organizations committed to improving the lives worldwide through a highly diversified programme of research, innovation and development to enhance the quality of life in the society. I hold a Bachelors degree in Communication and Media Technology, with a bias in Public Relations from Maseno University with interests in Current affairs (local and international) law, public policy, agribusiness humanitarian & development and conflict resolution. I am currently pursuing an MA in organizational Leadership at Africa International University,Nairobi Kenya
Currently, serve as the Field Community Communications Supervisor for Tullow Kenya BV (A Leading independent oil and gas exploration company and is a constituent of the London FTSE100). In my role i am leading a team of 6 communications coordinators in in the implementation
of Communications and External Affairs Remit to ensure effective and transparent engagement with multi-stakeholders at community level in all the sites around licensed blocks in Kenya. As focal person in Community communications , I have been responsible in carrying forward the delivery
of TKBV messaging and communications to all stakeholders through diverse
channels; and facilitated the process of development of a community
communications strategy to anchor Tullow Kenya activities around National
Content, Social Investments, EHS, and other functions of the company
related to its oil and gas exploration agenda.
Prior to this,Humanitarian stint for closes to 3 years as Senior
Information Officer with Lutheran World Federation/Department of World
Service (A member of ACT alliance); LWF/DWS Somali Refugee Assistance
project based in Dadaab. LWF/DWS is the lead agency in Camp Management and
takes centre stage in Community Communications among Disaster Affected
Populations in Dadaab Refugee Complex. I actively participated in the
Internews Humanitarian Communications and Information Needs joint assessment
in 2011. My role involved supporting senior management and program units
with strategic communications and information for planning and
implementation where I managed $580,000 annual budget from UNHCR, FCA,
BPRM, ECHO,COSSIDA,Australian and Canadian Lutheran Communions and DEC.
During this period i actively participated in humanitarian
sector/cluster inter-agency working groups like Child Protection,
Accountability (Founder leader), Education, Mental Health, Community
Communications among others.
During my stints i have been involved in Project Management and
communications leadership position where i have mustered over 8
years experience. I have managed communications and media engagements at
all levels, advocacy programmes, branding and donor visibility, Media
monitoring, lobbying, community mobilization and education programmes
targeting the various stakeholders. My experience has also been infused
with constant interfacing with high level donor missions, government
officials and the media (local,national and international) . I have gained
relevant experience in grants project management ,Result based M&E
,Inter-agency
coordination/liaison, Resource mobilization and Fundraising through
strategic communications as well as reporting on multi-donor projects while
fostering partnerships and coordination with other donors throughout the
project cycle.
