Daniel Khauka Nanghaka is the Founder and Executive Director of ILICIT Africa. Before founding ILICIT Africa, he was the community manager and Lead Researcher at Hive Colab – a technology hub space. Daniel is a member of FOSSFA Council and an Impact Business Leaders Fellow (Ashesi Fellow) 2014. He also serves as the Community Manager of Internet Society Uganda Chapter. In 2013, he got certified in Scalable Network Infrastructure where he gained knowledge and skills in building Small Network Infrastructure which is to be deployed in the RuSokoni - Rucomp project. Having graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, he was awarded a scholarship courtesy of IBM to build his career in Software Engineering and later a Nokia fellow at M:lab East Africa on Mobile Application Development.

In 2012, Daniel received training in Web 2.0 and Social Media learning at BROSDI (Busoga Rural Open Source and Development Initiative) and has conducted trainings in Oyam and Bududa training youths and farmers in ICT4Agri and Web 2.0 based on the CTA curriculum.

While attaining his software engineering at Makerere University, Daniel built a rating engine for a telecom billing company, and in 2011 developed myTicket a mobile ticketing platform which got an award as Best Mobile App courtesy of MTN Uganda. In 2012, He led the team that built WASH Reporter a crisis monitoring tool for water, sanitation and health.
