Professor Wilson Akpan is the Deputy Dean in charge of Research and Internationalisation, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Fort Hare South Africa. He is an environmental sociologist who has published extensively and supervised doctoral research on a wide range of environment and development topics, including: mining, social justice, climate change, local/indigenous knowledge, livelihoods, development-induced displacement, conflict corporate-community relations, etc. His current research is on space-place contestations within the context of large dams and other large-scale infrastructure.
