This Forum will examine the challenges that rural communities face in enhancing the benefits of mobile telephony, and look at some examples of interesting initiatives and good outcomes from around the globe. The first week will focus on the challenges that rural communities and rural service providers face in enhancing the benefits of mobile telephony. The facilitators will begin the dicussions, and subject matter experts and all participants are encouraged to participate at any time. Week II will focus on the Opportunities for mobile telephony in rural development with a special focus on the most beneficial applications of mobile phones in rural areas. A summary will be prepared each week, and a final report will be developed based on the outcome of the discussions. I want to thank our facilitators, subject matter experts, and our e-agriculture community members, for their time and important imput during this forum.
