Lamin Ibrahim Kamara is a dynamic, result-oriented and self-motivated individual, with a passion for development work geared towards improving the socio-economic well-being of smallholder farmers and the less-privileged youth who are mostly in constant touch with poverty.
As a Development Practitioner, Mr Kamara has wealth of experience in agriculture project design, management, monitoring and evaluation. He is knowledgeable in a wide range of development areas including Agriculture Innovation Systems, Agriculture value chains, Disaster Risk Reduction/Emergencies, Urban Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agroforestry, Climate Change Adaptation, Gender in Agriculture, Microfinance – VSLA/SILC, and Environmental Management. Mr Kamara is also a passionate Researcher. His research interests include agricultural innovation and extension (including contributions and influence of NGOs in agricultural development, farmers’ perceptions and use of new agricultural knowledge, information sources and the roles of indigenous and ‘externally’ stimulated innovation and technologies) gender in agriculture, and farmers’ response and adaptation to climate change. He is proficient in research design, data collection techniques, management, and analysis; as well as the use of Microsoft Applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in addition to SPSS, UCINET.
Mr Kamara has worked in a number of development organizations, the most recent of which are Agcrest Development Center – Sierra Leone &Nigeria, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and BRAC International where he served as Program Management and Food Security Consultant, Program Manager – Agriculture/Livelihoods, and Research and Evaluation Associate – West Africa, respectively. Mr Kamara is currently a PhD student in International Development (with specialty in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development), University of Reading, UK. He holds an MSc in Agriculture and Development (with Distinction) from University of Reading, UK; and a BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Extension (with First Class) from Njala University, Freetown. In addition, he holds a number of professional development certificates from various institutions including University of Exeter, Oxford University, Wageningen University, ECHO etc.
