Holds B.Sc(Agriculture) from Kerala Agricultural University, India, M.Sc (Computer Application) from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India and Ph.D(Computer Science and Applications) from Gandhigram Rural University, India.

Currently working as Senior Scientist in ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute. Has about Twenty years of experience in crop modelling, Computer Application in Agriculture and web technologies.

Has developed many crop simulation models for tropical tuber crops. SIMCAS model for cassava, MADHURAM and SPOTCOMS for sweet potato and EFYSIM for elephant foot yam were developed by him. Sweet potato model SPOTCOMS is widely used throughout the world. Michigan State University, USA is using this model to study the impact of climate change on sweet potato in East Africa. CIP(International Potato Centre, Lima, Peru) trained the participants of FoodSTART project to use the same model for yield gap analysis of sweet potato.

Most recent contribution is the development of E-Crop an electronic device to give real-time agro advisory to the farmers from the field automatically.

Many online tools for different applications were also developed by him. Online cassava market TOMS, OUSHADHAM an online tool to diagnose diseases and pests of tuber crops, VARIETY IDENTIFIER a tool to identify the varieties of tuber crops from its morphological attributes, TUBER INFORMATION CAFE an online software to give advice to the clienteles on the agro techniques of  tuber crops and interact with the experts on various aspects related to tropical tuber crops were developed by him. SREE VISAKHAM CASSAVA EXPERT SYSTEM an online expert system for cassava was also developed by him. Among other modules, cassava protector a disease and pest diagnostic module which learns from experience are very important modules of the expert system.

Served as a consultant to Michigan State University, USA for Computer simulation of Sweet potato and provided consultancy to  CIP(International Potato Centre) on yield gap analysis of sweet potato under FoodSTART project funded by IFAD. He has about 30 publications to his credit. Served as reviewer for some reputed journals like Computer and Electronics in Agriculture, Current Science etc.
