What are zoonotic diseases?

A disease that is transmissible from a vertebrate animals to humans and vice-versa is classified as zoonosis. Recognized and studied for many centuries, these kind of diseases count over 200 different kind of typologies caused by all types of pathogenic agents such as bacteria, parasites, viruses and fungi. Codex is engaged in reducing health risks from zoonosis and other health threats such AMR that effects every year millions of people. Some example of zoonosis are: Salmonellosis, Escherichia coli, Q fever, Taeniasis (parasite), Rabies and Dermatophytoses.
