Codex food hygiene meeting opens in San Diego
The 53rd session of the Codex Committee on Food Hygiene, hosted by the United States of America opened in San Diego, California on 27 November 2022, with over 200 participants from 63 countries registered to take part.

Pilot training on Good Codex Practices (Codex Trust Fund in collaboration with the Republic of Korea)
From 26 September to 1 October 2022, the Codex Trust Fund (CTF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea, conducted a pilot training in Seoul focusing on good Codex practices and Korea’s experience in building their Codex system over the past decades.

Grenada hosts capacity building training session for National Codex Committee & stakeholders

The Grenada National Codex Contact Point based in the Grenada Bureau of Standards hosted a training session for National Codex Committee Members and other Codex Stakeholders.

Regional workshop in Asia strengthening capacity for enhanced participation in Codex
To strengthen capacity for better and more effective participation in Codex work for selected Asian countries, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), organized a virtual regional workshop on “Enhancing Effective Participation in Codex Activities” from 20 to 22 September 2022. Codex Trust Fund / Workshop in Nigeria on importance of using Codex standards
The National Codex Committee of Nigeria, in collaboration with FAO Nigeria, under the sponsorship of the Codex Trust Fund, held a two-day regional workshop from 26to 27July 2022 in Lagos, Nigeria to create awareness on the importance of using Codex Standards for farmers, processors, small and medium enterprises, and to train local journalists on the reporting of Codex activities.

WTO / new publication recommends land-locked developing countries actively participate in Codex
In line with the SPS Agreement, a new World trade Organization (WTO) publication on easing trade bottlenecks recommends land-locked developing countries (LLDCs) actively participate in the standard-setting processes – under the Codex Alimentarius, the Organisation for Animal Health and the International Plant Protection Convention – to ensure that WTO sanitary and phytosanitary standards meet their needs.
