PREFACE

This document contains the report of the Technical Consultation on Aquaculture and Human Nutrition, together with background papers on the status of aquaculture and human nutrition from the participating SADCC countries.

The Technical Consultation was held in Maseru, Lesotho, at the invitation of the Government of Lesotho from 5 to 8 June 1989. Funding was provided by the FAO/Norway Project for Strengthening the Role of Fish and Fisheries in Alleviating Undernutrition (GCP/INT/ 467/NOR) and the organization was undertaken by FAO/SIDA Regional Programme of Aquaculture for Local Community Development (ALCOM) (GCP/INT/436/SWE).

The report is brought out in the ALCOM series in order to ensure that it is fully considered by the ALCOM member countries.
