English: As Regional Project Coordinator in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Ousseynou has the lead responsibility for all project activities and provides overall supervision to the National Project Coordinators in Gabon, Central African Republic and Congo. Besides project management, Ousseynou being the Chief Technical Advisor of the project provides policy analysis and advises involved Governments to develop appropriate policies promoting the sustainable use of NWFP.

Ousseynou is an agricultural and forest economist with more than 20 years of international research and development experience in economic, rural and social development in West and Central Africa. His areas of expertise are forest product marketing, enterprise and value chain development, policy, livelihoods and food security.

Before working for the project, Ousseynou coordinated the FAO project “Mobilization and capacity building for small- and medium-scale enterprises involved in NWFP value chains in Central Africa” implemented in Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo.

En plus de la gestion du projet, Ousseynou en tant que Conseiller technique principal du projet fournit des conseils aux Gouvernements impliqués pour leur permettre de développer des politiques appropriées promouvant l’utilisation durable des PFNL.

Ousseynou est un économiste agricole et forestier avec plus de 20 ans d’expériences dans la recherche et le développement international dans les sujets de l’économie ainsi que le développement rural et social en Afrique de l’Ouest et Centrale. Il possède une expertise reconnue dans les domaines de la commercialisation des produits forestiers, le développement des petites entreprises et des filières, les cadres politiques et institutionnels, l’amélioration des moyens d’existence et la sécurité alimentaire.

Avant de travailler pour le projet, Ousseynou a coordonné le projet « Mobilisation et renforcement des capacités des petites et moyennes entreprises impliquées dans les filières des produits forestiers non ligneux (PFNL) en Afrique Centrale » mis en œuvre par la FAO au Cameroun et dans la République Démocratique du Congo.

English: Juliane is working as an Associate Professional Officer (APO) in support of the FAO Regional Project Enhancing Food Security through Non-wood Forest Products in Central Africa (GCP/RAF/411/GER). She is part of the regional project coordination and is based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Juliane is involved in project management and activities on NWFP connected to Right to Food Policy.

Juliane holds a master degree in Geo-ecology from the University Karlsruhe, Germany. For her master thesis, she conducted her research in the Biosphere Reserve Pendjari, Benin on strategies for a sustainable land use management.

From 2007 to 2009, she worked as project manager for AMBERO Consulting, Germany, focusing on the fields of natural resource management, disaster prevention and rural development. She was responsible for acquisition, management and backstopping of projects mainly in Africa. Prior to this assignment, she gained field experience in Cameroon working on a project for rural water supply, financed by KfW.

French: Juliane travaille comme Cadre Associé dans la Coordination Régionale du projet Renforcement de la Sécurité Alimentaire en Afrique Centrale à travers la Gestion Durable des Produits Forestiers Non-Ligneux de la FAO. Elle est basée à Yaoundé et est impliquée dans la gestion régionale du projet et dans les activités des produits forestiers non-ligneux dans le contexte du droit à l’alimentation.

Juliane est diplômée de l’Université Karlsruhe en Allemagne comme Géo-écologiste et a effectué sa recherche dans la réserve biosphère du Pendjari au Bénin sur les stratégies d’une gestion durable des terres en vue de l’obtention du master.

De 2007 à 2009, elle a travaillé pour AMBERO Consulting Gesellschaft en Allemagne comme gestionnaire des projets en se spécialisant sur la gestion des ressources naturelles, prévention des catastrophes et développement rural. Juliane a été responsable de l’acquisition, la gestion et l’appui techniques aux projets principalement mis en œuvre en Afrique. Avant son engagement en Allemagne, elle a acquis une expérience de terrain dans un projet d’approvisionnement en eau potable dans les zones rurales du Cameroun, financé par la KfW.

English: Armand Asseng Zé works as specialist for natural resources and non wood forest products within the regional project coordination and is based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Among other responsibilities, he provides technical support in regard to the sustainable management of NWFP, the adaptation of legal frameworks and institutional settings based on the "Sub-regional guidelines for the sustainable management of NWFP of plant origin in Central Africa’’ adopted by COMIFAC. Armand supports COMIFAC’s sub-working group on NWFP and the formulation of national policies and strategies in Gabon and Central African Republic for the promotion and the development of the NWFP sector.

Armand holds a master degree in forest sciences, specialization agroforestery and focus his professional career on non wood forest products. Before joining the project, he worked within the project GCP/RAF/408 “Mobilization and capacity building for small- and medium-scale enterprises involved in NWFP value chains in Central Africa”, implemented in Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo, focusing on the improvement of the legal frame and the implementation of Market Analysis and Development’s approach (MA&D).

In Burkina Faso, he facilitated the elaboration of the national strategy for the development of the NWFP sector. In April 2008, Armand assured the position of the regional interim coordinator of the project GCP/RAF/398/GER on NWFP and food security being the same time a member of the legal working group for the elaboration of COMIFAC’s sub-regional guidelines on NWFP. In addition, he contributed to the elaboration of the national NWFP strategy for the Republic of Congo, and, as chief technical advisor, Armand assured the implementation of the project MTF/CMR/025/MSC, “Sustainable management of NWFP in Pallisco’s Forest concessions in Cameroon”. As part of a FAO project in Cameroon, Armand executed socioeconomic studies on NWFP, contributed to the organization of NWFP chains and the identification of priorities for the national strategy of development of NWFP sector in Cameroon.

French: Armand Asseng Zé est spécialiste des ressources naturelles et produits forestiers non ligneux du projet basé à Yaoundé, Cameroun. Entre autres tâches, il fournit au projet un appui technique à la gestion durable des PFNL, à l’adaptation des cadres légaux et institutionnels en se basant sur les « Directives sous-régionales relatives à la gestion durable des PFNL d’origine végétale en Afrique Centrale » adoptées par la COMIFAC. Il fournit également un appui technique à la formulation des politiques nationales pour leur prise en compte suffisante des PFNL et à la mise en place d’un sous-groupe de travail PFNL au sein de la COMIFAC.

Armand Asseng Zé est diplômé de l’Université de Yaoundé I en Sciences forestières option Agroforesterie. Sa carrière professionnelle est focalisée dans le domaine des PFNL. Avant de travailler pour l’actuel projet, il a contribué à la mise en œuvre du projet FAO GCP/RAF/408 « Mobilisation et renforcement des capacités des petites et moyennes entreprises impliquées dans les filières des produits forestiers non ligneux en Afrique Centrale » notamment l’amélioration du cadre légal et l’approche ADM.

Il a contribué à l’élaboration de la stratégie nationale de développement du secteur PFNL au Burkina Faso. En avril 2008, Armand a assuré l’intérim de la Coordination Régionale du projet GCP/RAF/398/GER FAO sur les PFNL et la sécurité alimentaire financé par le gouvernement Allemand tout en étant membre du groupe de travail PFNL pour l’élaboration des Directives PFNL de la COMIFAC et en contribuant à l’élaboration de la stratégie PFNL au Congo. Armand a assuré les fonctions du conseiller technique principale dans le projet « Gestion des PFNL dans la concession forestière de Pallisco ». Dans un projet de la FAO au Cameroun, il a mené des études socio-économiques sur les PFNL, contribué à l’organisation des filières PFNL et à la définition des axes stratégiques de développement des PFNL.

English: Pierre works at the Directorate for the Valorization of Forest Resources and holds the position of Chief of Service for the Valorization of Non-Wood Forest Products. He is the designated Focal Point of the project “Enhancing the contribution of Non-Wood Forest Products to Poverty Alleviation and Food Security in Central African Countries” and represents the Congolese Government, specifically the Ministry for Sustainable Development, Forestry Economics and Environment.

Pierre holds a degree as Engineer for Forestry Techniques from the National School for Water and Forests (ENEF) in Gabon; he participated in several trainings and workshops which focused i.a. on application and auditing of Principles, Criteria, Indicators and Verifiers (PCIV) for the sustainable management of the natural forests in Congo, and the assessment of natural resources in Congo.

French: Pierre travaille à la Direction de la Valorisation des Ressources Forestières (DVRF) en qualité de Chef de Service de la Valorisation des PFNL et est nommé Point Focal du projet « Renforcement de la Sécurité Alimentaire en Afrique Centrale à travers la Gestion Durable des Produits Forestiers Non Ligneux » pour représenter le Gouvernement du Congo, notamment le Ministère du Développement Durable, de l’Economie Forestière et de l’Environnement.

Pierre est titulaire d’un diplôme d’Ingénieur des Techniques forestières de l’Ecole Nationale des Eaux et Forêts (ENEF) du Gabon ; dans le cadre du renforcement des capacités, il a bénéficié de plusieurs stages de perfectionnement et participé à différents séminaires de formation qui ont porté, entre autres, sur l’audit et application des Principes, Critères, Indicateurs et Vérificateurs (PCIV) de la gestion durable des forêts naturelles du Congo et l’évaluation des ressources naturelles du Congo.

English: Based in Brazzaville, Félix holds the position as Coordinator for our project in the Republic of Congo. After graduating in botany and forest ecology at the University of Marien Ngouabi in Congo, he obtained a doctoral diploma of forest ecology at the University of Paris. Since 2001, Félix teaches at the Institute for Rural Development at the University of Marien Ngouabi in Brazzaville.

Félix has a wide range of experiences in doing consultancies and in the management of small projects, namely in the areas of forestry (forest inventories and environmental impact studies), and environment and climate change (inventories on green house gas emission, development of clean forestry).

For FAO’s project “Enhancing food security through non wood forest products in Central Africa”, he conducted a study on the assessment and analysis of policies and strategies for a sustainable management of NWFP in Congo and was responsible for the elaboration of a country strategy and an action plan for the NWFP sector and its development.

French: Basé à Brazzaville, Félix est Coordonnateur de notre projet pour la République du Congo. Il a une formation de base en botanique et écologie forestières de l’Université Marien Ngouabi au Congo qui est complétée par un doctorat en écologie forestière de l’Université Paris. Depuis 2001, Félix est enseignant à l'Institut de Développement Rural de l'Université Marien Ngouabi de Brazzaville.

Félix dispose d’une expertise dans la réalisation de nombreuses études et la gestion des petits projets dans les domaines de la foresterie (inventaires forestiers et étude d'impact environnemental) et de l'environnement et changement climatique (inventaire des émissions des gaz à effet de serre, proposition de développement propre en foresterie).

Dans le cadre du projet « Renforcement de la sécurité alimentaire en Afrique Centrale à travers la gestion durable des produits forestiers non ligneux » de la FAO, il a réalisé les études sur le diagnostic et l’analyse des politiques et les stratégies de gestion des PFNL au Congo et la stratégie et plan d'action du développement du secteur des PFNL.

English: Louis Alain works as National project coordinator in Gabon and is based in Libreville. He graduated as Engineer for animal production from the Masuku University, Gabon and obtained diploma as Engineer for animal and plant production and as Bio-Engineer from the Faculty for Agronomic Sciences at the University of Gembloux, Belgium. Later, Louis Alain specialized in Natural resource management in tropical areas at the University of Liège in Belgium.

Louis Alain continued at the University of Liège with his doctoral research that looks into the challenges of biodiversity conservation and the management of natural resources in and around national parks in the periphery of Libreville.

Louis Alain worked many years for AGROGABON as manager for cattle ranches in different rural areas of Gabon before being employed by several ministry departments as person in charges for programs and advisor to the Minister. Before joining the project, he worked as advisor in charge for national parks at the Ministry for Tourism of Gabon.

French: Louis Alain est Coordonnateur national de projet pour le Gabon et est basé à Libreville. Initialement Ingénieur zootechnicien de l’Université de Masuku au Gabon et Ingénieur agro-zootechnicien puis Bio-ingénieur de la Faculté des Sciences Agronomiques de l’Université Gembloux en Belgique, Louis Alain s’est spécialisé en gestion des ressources naturelles en milieux tropicaux (Université Liège en Belgique).

Il est chercheur-doctorant (régime mixte) en santé et production animales à l’Université de Liège ; ses recherches sont basées sur la problématique de la conservation de la biodiversité et des ressources naturelles dans et en périphérie des parcs nationaux situés autour de Libreville.

Louis Alain a travaillé pour AGROGABON comme gestionnaire des ranches d’élevage extensif bovin en zones rurales du Gabon et dans différents départements ministériels comme chargé d’études et Conseiller de Ministre. Avant de travailler dans le projet, il était Conseiller chargé des parcs nationaux au Ministère du Tourisme.

English: Since November 2009, Abel Alafeї, Regional Director for Water, Forest, Hunting and Fisheries, is nominated as National Focal Point for the project Enhancing the contribution of non-wood forest products to poverty alleviation and food security in Central African countries. He is working in the Central African capital, Bangui, and its surroundings, being responsible for the implementation of national policies for the management of forest, wildlife and fish resources.

After graduating as a Forestry Engineer, Abel gained experiences on agro-ecology, agro-forestry, local development planning and management of development projects and programs during several internships abroad. Abel worked as national expert in different projects and programs for the conservation and management of natural resources and as National Director for projects dealing with forest resources and the restoration of degraded ecosystems. He was a responsible resource person in the establishment of transfrontier conservation areas, namely the Tri-national Sangha area.

Based on his work in German financed forestry project, Abel draws from over ten years of experiences in the fields of participatory management of forest resources in the North and South-east regions of the Central African Republic.

Dans le domaine de ses activités liées à sa fonction ministérielle, il intervient à Bangui, capitale de la République Centrafricaine et ses environs dans la mise en œuvre de la politique nationale en matière des ressources forestières, fauniques et halieutiques.

Diplômé en qualité d’Ingénieur forestier, il a effectué plusieurs stages à l’extérieur dans les domaines de l’agro écologie, l’agroforesterie, la gestion des projets et programmes de développement, la planification en développement local.

Il a occupé plusieurs postes de responsabilités en qualité d’expert national dans les projets et programmes de gestion/conservation des ressources naturelles, Directeur National dans les projets des ressources forestières et restauration des écosystèmes dégradés, personne-ressource dans le processus de la mise en œuvre des aires transfrontalières notamment le Tri national de la Sangha (TNS).

Il a acquis une expérience de plus de dix ans en matière de gestion participative des ressources forestières développées dans les régions Nord et Sud-ouest de la République Centrafricaine dans le cadre d’un programme financé par le Gouvernement Allemand.

English: Bruno is working as national project coordinator in the Central African Republic in support of the regional project “Enhancing Food Security through Non-wood Forest Products in Central Africa”. He is based in Bangui and implements the activities in the Central African Republic in close collaboration with the focal point of the Ministry of Water, Forests, Hunting and Fisheries.

After achieving a Master of biology in 1997, Bruno graduated as an Engineer for Water and Forests in 2000 at the University of Bangui and, in addition, as a Master for Management of forest resources and participatory methods from CRESA Forest and Timber at the University of Dschang in Cameroon (2009).

From 2001 to 2003, he was part of the multidisciplinary planning group for a national strategy and a national action plan for biodiversity. Afterwards (2003-2007), he coordinated the monitoring and evaluation activities on biodiversity in the protected areas of Dzanga Sangha (Landscape CARPE Trinational Sangha). He continued to work as consultant for the Centre for International Forest Research, CIFOR, in the framework of two projects: Modeling of the integrated conservation approach for development and CoFCCA Congo Basin forest and adaptation to climate change.

Bruno has experiences in working within a team, with local communities and participatory research approaches. He is part of the Research Network on the Sangha that supports the management of the transfrontier conservation area in the Sangha comprising the Lobeke Park (Cameroon), the Dzanga Sangha Park (Central African Republic) and the Nouabele Ndoki Park (Congo).

French: Bruno est recruté comme coordonateur national du projet « Renforcement de la Sécurité Alimentaire en Afrique Centrale à travers la Gestion Durable des Produits Forestiers Non-Ligneux » en République Centrafricaine. Il est basé à Bangui et travaille en collaboration avec le point focal du Ministère des Eaux, Forêts, Chasse et Pêche pour la mise en œuvre de ce projet.

Il est Ingénieur des Eaux et Forets diplômé en 2000, titulaire d’une Maitrise de Biologie en 1997 de l'Université de Bangui et titulaire d'un Master en Aménagement et gestion participative des ressources forestières du CRESA Forêt Bois de l'Université de Dschang au Cameroun en 2009.

De 2001 à 2003, il a travaillé comme membre de l'équipe pluridisciplinaire de planification de la Stratégie Nationale et Plan d'Action en matière de Biodiversité. Ensuite entre 2003 et 2007, il a coordonné le suivi-évaluation de la biodiversité dans les Aires Protégées de Dzanga Sangha (Landscape CARPE de Tri national Sangha). Apres cette étape, il a été Consultant au Centre International pour la Recherche Forestière (CIFOR) dans le cadre de la modélisation de l’approche conservation intégrée au développement et dans le cadre du Projet de Recherche CoFCCA « Foret du Bassin du Congo et Adaptation au Changement climatique ».

Bruno a une grande expérience de travailler en équipe et avec les communautés rurales et dans la mise en œuvre de la Recherche Action Participative. A ce jour il fait parti du Réseau des Chercheurs Groupe Sangha qui travaille dans l’appui aux efforts de gestion des aires protégées transfrontalières du Tri-National de la Sangha qui regroupe les Parcs Lobeke (Cameroun), Dzanga Sangha (RCA) et Nouabele Ndoki (Congo).
