As an Agricultural Economist with the UN Food and Agricultural Organization, Mark spent 31 years in the domain of food security policy and programme development, and in strengthening food security information and analysis capacity at country and regional levels, while contributing to the development of food security information networks and platforms at the global level (including FIVIMS, IPC, FSN Forum and FSIN). Throughout his career, Mark has lived and worked in many countries, primarily in Africa and in Asia. In working across disciplines, he has provided conceptual, analytical and institutional support to the development of multi-stakeholder initiatives concerned with food security and nutrition. During 2015-2018, Mark was assigned as FAO Representative to Indonesia and to Timor-Leste, where he developed FAO's country programmes in food and agriculture, fisheries and forestry. Most recently, he has contributed to "The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World" (SOFI), a global inter-Agency report published annually.
