Technical guidelines - 为帮助FAO农药残留评估专家统一评估程序，FAO于1997年出版了<<用于推荐食品和饲料中最大残留限量的农药残留数据提交和评估手册>>第一版。该<<手册》的第一次修订版在2002年出版，增加了1997-2009年间农药残留专家联席会议(JMPR)报告的附加内容。其后，经FAO和WHO的管理，JMPR的科学评估程序不断发展完善。本<<手册>>整合了用于评估最大残留限量（ MRLs ）、规范残留试验中值（ STMR ）和饮食上农药残留风险的所有相关信息和原则。随着残留数据评估不断发展和经验的累积，目前的<<手册>>将不断地加以修订和更新。本<<手册>>同时致力于加强与食品法典农药残留委员会 (CCPR)， 法典成员国以及CCPR其他参与方的交流，并对JMPR-FAO专家组应用的程序进行阐释。
