With more than 40 years of SSTC facilitation, FAO has worked with close to 100 partners to support the mutual sharing and exchange of knowledge, good practices, policies and technology between and among countries in the global South. Our partners play various roles, whether it involves countries sending their experts abroad, countries hosting experts from abroad or third party countries providing financial and/or technical resources to facilitate SSTC exchange

All countries and partners can contribute in several ways; as knowledge providers and/or as providers of funding to facilitate South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) exchanges and projects.

Presence

FAO is present in 153 countries, allowing for engagement, support and follow-up with local authorities and stakeholders. The South-South and Triangular Cooperation Division (PST) coordinates SSTC programme in collaboration with the Regional and country offices.

Provide a Framework
for Cooperation

FAO provides the operational frameworks and instruments (such as the Tripartite Project Agreements-TPAs, Memorandums of Understandings - MoU’s) within which exchanges take place amongst countries.

& Quality Assurance

FAO facilitated SSTC ensure that international standards are adhered to or adopted in the formulation, implementation and monitoring and impact evaluation of all projects and programmes. FAO ensures that technology and knowledge are relevant and adaptable to local conditions.

Trusted Space for Multi-stakeholder Dialogues and Partnerships

As a neutral convener of multi-stakeholder dialogues and fora’s, FAO provides a trusted space for dialogue and partnership across a wide-spectrum of actors including the Governments, Academia, Civil Society, UN Agencies, small-scale farmers and larger Private Sector partners.
