After receiving training and seeds from the FAO-China-Uganda South-South Cooperation (SSC) project, Charles Swama, a farmer from Butaleja, Uganda, now grows foxtail millet, a drought and disease-resistant crop, which does not require the spraying of chemical pesticides, is higher-yielding and takes just 85 days to harvest. It is rich in protein and B12 vitamins. Charles has used his newfound income to expand his farm and pay for his children's schooling.
