FAO Representative calls on Minister of Agriculture and Forestry

FREETOWN - The new FAO Representative, Saeed A. Bancie, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Hon. Abu Bakarr Karim at his Youyi Building office in Freetown.

During the visit, the FAO Representative appreciated the cordial relationship between FAO and the Ministry and assured the Minister of FAO’s continued support to the Ministry of Agriculture’s food security agenda within its mandate through the provision of technical assistance.

In his welcoming statement, the Hon. Minister said, in strengthening the Agricultural sector in the country, the ministry looks forward to the technical support of FAO, and assured Mr. Bancie of the ministry’s collaborative support to attain the aspired goal of the Sustainable Development Goals. “We are proud of the time-honoured relationship with FAO”, the Hon. Minister noted. 

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Andrew Sorie, also welcomed the new FAO representative, “we are looking forward to a better and productive relationship in working with you and thank you for accepting the offer of coming to Sierra Leone...” he noted. 

The Minister assured the FAOR that his office will always be open to discuss pertinent issues that will uphold the mandate of FAO and the work of the Ministry for national growth and development.
