Figure 2 shows the distribution of surface temperature observed by thermograph at 4 m of depth and Figure 3 shows the hydrographical sections into the Gulf of Venezuela, off the Peninsula of Guajira and off Riohacha. The distribution of surface temperatures with a negative gradient shorewards indicate a proces of upwelling to the west of the Peninsula de Guajira which is confirmed by the profile off Riohacha.
